LIFEGUARDS/SWIM INSTRUCTORS

The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest non-profit youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 19 branches and 180 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three upstate camp sites.

The YMCA is seeking energetic and qualified Lifeguards and Swim Instructors (full time and part time). Positions are available in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.

LIFEGUARDS (Full time: $11.43 p/h – $14.28 p/h Part Time: $8.99 p/h – 11.23 p/h)
Responsible for the health and safety of all members/participants in the aquatic facility. The lifeguard will provide rapid response to all emergency situations in the water and will administer first aid if necessary. Other responsibilities include: lock and secure pool at closing, perform aquatic quarter drills and complete aquatic logs and reports. Must have a YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification.

SWIM LESSONS INSTRUCTORS (Full time: $13.51p/h – $16.89p/h Part Time: $10.41p/h- $13.02 p/h)
Teach a variety of swimming techniques to participants within different ages and skill levels. The swim lessons instructor will create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants. Other responsibilities include: enforce pool policies and procedures, lock and secure the pool at closing and keep attendance records. Must have a YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
In addition, aquatic professionals are responsible for maintaining a high standard of excellence in professionalism, team involvement, and member safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications
Applicants interested in positions above must meet the following requirements:
• High School Degree or equivalent.
• Current CPR/AED/Oxygen Administration and First Aid certifications.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
